Frequently Asked Questions

Embodied Psychotherapy

With over 25 years' professional experience, I bring a strong body orientation to my work with clients and helping professionals. As a psychotherapist, I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression as well as trauma-related issues, such as post-traumatic stress and dissociation. I have helped clients work through a range of life challenges including childhood trauma, divorce, complicated grief/death of a loved one, transitions into parenthood, and work stress or job changes. Other areas of experience and expertise include chronic pain or illness, sexual problems, body image issues, life transitions and relationship issues. Additionally, I have been of support to yoga practitioners, dancers, meditators and/or others who are interested in Eastern and contemporary or mystical spiritual practices, who wish to integrate or develop spiritual practice in conjunction with their personal work, whether in the context of psychotherapy or somatic movement therapy. The modalities/approaches I bring to my psychotherapy work with clients include: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), UZAZU embodied intelligence, Body-Mind Centering®, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), ego state work, and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR). Somatic Movement Therapy

I offer sessions in somatic movement therapy, distinct from psychotherapy. You might choose to work with me in this way if:

  • You are interested in focusing specifically on body or movement issues;
  • You want to explore or deepen embodiment and movement-based practices for your growth, evolution or wellbeing;
  • You want to work with me using UZAZU or Body-Mind Centering as a primary approach, but not psychotherapy;
  • For some other reason it is a better fit to engage with somatic movement therapy rather than psychotherapy.
